I huffed and puffed trying to decide whether or not to write this post. I decided to run with it because it’s on my heart and has come up in several conversations lately. I have a bit of a spoiler for you guys: I will never have a perfect Instagram feed. Shocker, I know. Here’s why:
- I want to be as authentic as possible. If I were to post perfect pictures of myself, my family, my daughter… it just wouldn’t make sense to me. That’s not our life. I take at least 37 selfies before I land on a decent one to post. Mick doesn’t need a filter… ever. And my life doesn’t either. My content is going to be killer, but you guys need to know that I will not ever sell a pre-set line or have a feed that people drool over. It’s not my style and it’s not realistic. #truthbomb
- My Instagram is going to be a great way for me to look back over my daughter’s life and cherish the memories. I don’t want to second guess a post because it may not have awesome engagement. If I want to share a silly photo because that’s what makes me happy, then I am going to do it without worrying about the double taps. I don’t want to download apps that make my face look like, well not like my face. What is the point of that? I never understood those apps anyways. I am what I am, baby!
- The comparison game of social media is alive and well. It is SO easy to get caught up in the “how many likes did I get” or “wow, how does she handle all of that” if you are constantly comparing your life to someone’s highlight reel. A huge mission in my life is to change this for women. To give them the power back that other people’s opinions of them has nothing to do with them. Read that again: What other people think of you… has NOTHING to do with you. Don’t let a pretty feed cloud your judgement. You are awesome. You are worthy. You are doing great.
So, what can you expect from a girl with a less than perfect Instagram feed?
Raw photos: the good, the bad, and the hilarious moments that happen in life.
Great content: motivation, daily reminds, business tactics, and tools to help you live the life you’re dreaming of.
Must haves: things I love, things that helped me grow, things that I use on a daily basis to continue to grow on this journey.
Now, if you are down with all of that and are ready for an Instagram feed that will not be the prettiest, but will be so much more for your life…. You know where to find me.
