Carnival Inspired Cupcakes
Something you may not know about me is… I love to cook and it comes naturally for me, but baking… I can’t bake to save my life! The heartbreaking part is that I love sweets… oh the irony, right! I have found a few dessert hacks along the way that allow me to be creative and to also have a great tasting dessert. I’ll spill the tea with you here.
I used to love that show Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. This Carnival Inspired Cupcakes are totally semi-homemade. I bought vanilla and buttercream frosted cupcakes at the store. I also grabbed a few items that I wanted to transform my cupcakes into. I chose Animal Circus Crackers, Cotton Candy, and Salted Caramel Popcorn.
Start by taking off the frosting to each cupcake. I needed to make a pink and blue frosting for my cotton candy cupcake and a hot pink frosting for my animal cracker cupcake. Because of this, I spilt the icing into three bowls so that I could add the food color that I needed. I also mix the buttercream frosting that came on the cupcakes with buttercream frosting from the bakery.
I used a piping bag and different tips to create the new frosting for each cupcake. I then topped them and decorated them accordingly. Total time for my semi-homemade cupcakes was around 15 mins.
If you use this hack, let me know! I would love to see what you come up with!
