Teaching Your Littles About Easter
Hippity- hop! Can you believe it is Easter? I have said it before, and I will say it again: Time goes by MUCH faster when you have little ones! Easter is one of my most favorite holidays. I love all the bright colors from the Easter eggs to the Sunday dresses, Easter is full of color. It also represents the day the Jesus proved the tomb could not hold him. So many worship songs flood to my head as I type that sentence and it give me chills! It is so important to me that my girls learn about Christ and that I help foster their relationship with Jesus. That can be a tad challenging with little ones though!
Here are my top three tips on getting your littles involved more this Easter:
- Let them help you in the kitchen. My toddler LOVES to cook with me. There are SO many cute Easter treats from egg shaped rice krispies to Resurrection rolls, you can start teaching them lessons through food. I personally love to share a good story with my recipes and how that recipes came to be. Pinterest has so many great ideas if you are needing a recipe to follow!
- Incorporate books with meaning. For us, this has been a great addition to our bedtime routine. We started with several of the iconic Berenstien Bears books to help them visualize the story of Easter. Our first Jesus Storybook Bible has also become a huge hit for my girls. This is a great starter Bible for kiddos and I can’t recommend it enough. The lessons are brought to life by pictures and the stories are age appropriate so that the girls can grasp the concepts. A must have for the Easter basket. You can visit the Zonderkidz Easter Gift Guide HERE to learn more about these books and other great gifts.
- Attend a service. Yes, it will be challenging this year with the state of the nation, but don’t let that stop you from joining an Easter service. There are tons of online service options from churches all over the world. One of my favorite ways to listen to sermons has been on my podcast app. And of course, in person if you can do that safely!
I hope that this Easter, you remind yourself of the meaning while eating your chocolate eggs. 😊 May we continue to teach our children the wonder of Jesus and his teachings. I hope you all have a GREAT Easter and can’t wait to see your Easter photos on the ‘gram.
